Homemade deodorant something I've been wanting to do for awhile in my switch to green living. It's not only
very cost effective, but it's healthier for myself and for my daughter who I am still nursing. I finally made the switch to something homemade and I am really happy with how it's gone so far. I picked an easy recipe that used what I already had and wasn't going to be difficult to make. I have probably 10 recipes pinned on pinterest, but i finally decided on one that only has 3 ingredients and I opted not to add a scent into mine as I like the tropical scent the coconut oil gives to it. I've used this for about 6 months now, and I really can't complain. I've used it in 100+ temperatures and I have had zero problem with smell. I've used it during workouts too with no smell issue. The scent-blocking seems to last longer and be better than my regular deodorant. It is a semi-antiperspirant, but it doesn't have the sweat blocking properties of the aluminum in regular deodorant. This doesn't bother me because there is no smell with it, but it might bother some people. I definitely sweat less than without any deodorant, which I assume is from the cornstarch. In a future recipe I might add tea tree oil as that is a natural antiseptic and would kill bacteria (lovely picture!) I have also noticed that overall I've been sweating less since I stopped using regular deodorant. Not sure if it's because I don't notice sweating as much or if this really has something to do with not using traditional anti-antiperspirant for so long. Here is the recipe I followed:
Homemade Coconut Oil Deodorant via
Green Your Way
1/4 cup baking soda
1/4 cup cornstarch
5 tablespoons virgin coconut oil
It's not the easiest form, but I can't complain because I do love it! I've seen some people put their's into an old deodorant container, I just didn't have one on hand to use. I am still using this batch after 6 months and I haven't noticed any issues with it going bad.

This is really awesome! I may look into making some myself. I love that you have used it for 6 months and it still works--that saves a TON of money!!
