E is 6 months!

My little peanut is a half a year old already, the time keeps flying.  I might have pleaded with God last night to make time slow down...but I know that's not the way it works! Here are some updates on my little girl :)

Sleep: We have hit a bit of a routine with naps, although they are far from perfect.  She typically takes 3 naps every 1.5-2 hours at around 9, 12, and 3 and then she typically goes to bed around 7:30.  Her naps never last longer than an hour, I've tried everything, but I think she's just a baby that doesn't sleep much.  She goes to bed at 7:30 but she's typically up every half hour to 45 minutes until I finally bring her to bed with me.  We are still co-sleeping and it's mostly working out, although I still don't think it's ideal for any of us (she is up 3-4 times a night, but she's not hungry).  My goal is by 7 months that she will at least be sleeping part of the night in the pack 'n play.  I tried for about week getting her in the pack 'n play and it was miserable.  She would be completely asleep and as soon as A or I would put her down, she'd wake up and start screaming.  Right now she is only sleeping in the swing but we've mostly transitioned her from not needing the swing on to fall asleep. Reading W's "sleep" section at 6 months, my kids sound identical! So there is hope that E will eventually sleep in the crib by herself :)

Food: We started rice cereal around 5 months, but she didn't seem to be digesting it very well so I stopped (although she was gobbling it up).  This past week I decided to try baby-led weaning because she was always grabbing at food and she has really loved it.  We've tried apple (she will sit there and suck on it), bananas (she holds them in her little fist and mushes them into her mouth...cutest thing ever!), and avocado (she's not a fan, not sure if it's the taste or texture - but W refused to eat avocado as a baby too).  I think this is the route we're going to be taking with her, rather than exclusive pureed foods.  I'm going to try rice cereal again this month but I'm going to mix them with a pureed fruit and see how that works.  We're doing the other 3-day rule with her, but there is a lot more available for babies with baby-led weaning.  I'm excited to see what she likes and if this method makes her less picky than her brother who was fed purees (he wasn't picky until around a year).  After we've been doing it for a bit, I plan to write a post on it.

Diaper size: Size 2

Clothes: Still mostly 0-3 months, only in 3-6 month PJs for length

Weight: E had a weight check at 5 months and she was 12 lbs 2.5 ounces (3rd percentile). They don't seem concerned with her weight because she gained weight from her 4 month appointment.  Her 6 month well visit isn't for another 2 weeksso we'll see how she's doing :)

Development: She has started babbling a lot this past month.  Mostly "baba" and "dada".  She also loves yelling and giggling.  She is mostly sitting up on her own, every once and awhile she falls over (or is pushed over by big brother) but she has gotten pretty good at catching herself.  She doesn't seem too interested in crawling right now, and I'm fine with that.  I'm thinking she might just skip crawling and start pulling herself up in a few months (she tries pulling herself up now).

Favorites: Sophie the Giraffe, plastic keys, walker, sitting on the deck in the Bumbo chair, and the hip-carry in the Ergo.

Pictures from the past month:
Big brother was a bit too rough and gave E her first black eye

Enjoying the sunshine in January

Probably one of my favorite pics of her :)
Finally can touch the ground in the walker (side note: aren't leggings just the cutest on babies!)

Dressed for more summery weather in January

Finally caught her smile on camera

I love the updates!! :) Collyn has issues sleeping also. What seemed to help him with sleep is putting pillows under the mattress to prop him up a little bit. He sleeps so much better now. Just something to try, maybe. :)
