I went to the campus bookstore today to finish up my scholarship. As MDiv students, if we buy our textbooks from the bookstore, we get a $100 scholarship each semester. With my money I have bought: handmade coasters for the living room, two Rob Bell books (Velvet Elvis and Sex God), two cookbooks (World in Your Kitchen - an international cookbook and a Christmas cookie cookbook), Everyday Herbs in Spiritual Life, and The Origin of Satan. The book I found for the purpose of completing this item on my list, though, is The Biblical Psalms in Christian Worship: A Brief Introduction & Guide to Resources. I think this book will be perfect for my ministry especially because of my love of the Psalms! I'm really looking forward to learning more about the Psalms and I have started to work on memorizing Psalm 121 - this has always been my favorite Psalm and it's relatively short!
I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
