You don't have a better chance of glorifying God by being a preacher than you do by being a bond trader, or by being a missionary verses being a mother. You don't get more credit in the kingdom of God for being a songwriter than you do for being a student. And what does that kind of Christ-exalting life look like? For starters, being the best at what we do, leading in every strata of society, being honorable and dependable, walking with humility, and treating everyone we encounter along the way the same way that Jesus would.

One of my very good friends since high school emailed me this quote probably about a year ago and it remains to be my favorite. I purposely did not chose a Bible verse as my favorite quote, because it would be nearly impossible for me to choose a favorite! I honestly don't know where she got this quote from, but I believe it was from a book she was reading. If I ever happen to find the author (or if someone happens to know it) I will post it!
The reason this quote means so much to me is because of the reassurance that no matter what path I am on I need to be glorifying God. I try to live my life by Christ's example, but it's not easy (I am called to take up the cross, I don't expect it to be easy!) Hopefully, though, I can do the best that I can and honor God with my words and actions no matter what it is I'm doing or saying.
